Flexible Talent: A Key to Success for Firms, their Captive ALSPs, and their Corporate Client
September 23, 2022, 8:30 a.m. at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile
More than a third of the AmLaw 100 now offer services from captive ALSPs, which are designed to offer new legal service delivery models driven by technology enablement, process and project management, and creative staffing. While many of these ALSPs focus on the technology aspect, firms can also benefit by improving mechanisms to put the right people in a position to succeed. For any Firm, deploying the right talent on a project is often the element that makes or breaks the engagement. This may be especially true for the captive ALSPs. Making matters even more difficult, some captive ALSPs are expected act as an internal staffing agency for the firm and are expected to deliver flexible legal solutions, even for work not managed by the captive ALSP itself. In this session, we will focus on best practices for identifying and utilizing alternative staffing options for a captive ALSP.
The 2022 LVN Road Trip served as a proof of concept that there is major value in “leaning across the aisle” to candidly identify pain points, opportunities for better collaboration, and potential growth. Inclusivity is what sets Legal Value Network apart. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to collaborate across the legal ecosystem.

LegalVIEW Insights: 2020 – A Pause in Corporate Legal Department Supplier Relationships
The disruption of the pandemic appears to be lifting, giving the world a chance to take a step back and ask itself, “What just happened?” In legal, the data is in, and it shows that 16 percent of relationships between corporate law departments and their outside firms were put on “hold” for the entire year of 2020 – not a single invoice for services changed hands. Ninety percent of corporate law departments reduced their number of active outside relationships, and no segment of the law firm market was spared. From the largest, most prestigious Am Law firms right down to the offices of solo practitioners, every group tended to see a significant number of relationships get put on hold.
Will those relationships come back? It is too early to tell, but early data on the legal industry’s approach to technology suggests the industry is open to a major reevaluation of how it does business.
In this webinar, panelists will present a deep dive into the data around law firm relationships from the recently published LegalVIEW® Insights Report, Volume 1, based on data from the ELM Solutions’ LegalVIEW database. The discussion will include an analysis of the data for 2020, as well as what it means for the industry as it heads into a post-pandemic world.
